The 8th European Field Target Championship 2023 took place on the 28th – 30th of September,2023 . The competition and all the other associated activities were held in the town of Varshets, which is situated at the western part of the Balkan mountains.
The competition was spread over three days, with three groups of shooters shooting on three different courses of 50 targets each. Over 200 shooters participated, and Team Malta consisted of four shooters.
The top scorer of the competition got 139 points out of 150, which gives an indication of how challenging this competition was! Veteran shooter Dominic Calleja, in the Veteran Springer Category, got the 4th place, while Paul Camilleri managed to get the 7th Place in the Veteran PCP Category. When one consider the limitations that we have in our country, with regards to training facilities, sponsors etc., in comparison with our competitors, we believe Team Malta did very well! We would like to thank AACTS for their guidance and advice. All attendees would like to thank SportMalta for their generous Financial Assistance grant, which will be shared by the competitors who took part in this prestigious competition, to help cover each competitors personal cost of attending the event
